The Descendants actor will arrive on Skid Row in September.<\/p>\n

Thomas Doherty, who starred in HBO Max’s\u00a0Gossip Girl reboot, will be the latest actor to play Seymour in the hit Off-Broadway revival of\u00a0Little Shop of Horrors<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The actor, also known for his work in\u00a0Disney\u2019s Descendants, Paradise, Tell Me Lies, Catherine the Great, The Invitation, and Girls5Eva,\u00a0will make his New York stage debut beginning September 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so honored and excited to be introduced as the new Seymour,\u201d Doherty said in a statement to Variety<\/a>. \u201cLittle Shop of Horrors was the first-ever show I did as a child back in Edinburgh, so to be doing it now in New York City\u2014alongside the incredibly talented Madeline Brewer\u2014is a real dream.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company\u00a0is\u00a0currently led by\u00a0The Handmaid’s Tale Emmy nominee Brewer as Audrey and\u00a0Nicholas Christopher<\/a> (Jelly\u2019s Last Jam, Sweeney Todd), who has returned\u00a0to the role of Seymour prior to his forthcoming leading role<\/a> in the Broadway revival of Chess.
\n Christopher is playing\u00a0the down-on-his-luck plant shop worker through
\nAugust 31.<\/p>\n

Also in the cast are Drama Desk nominee Jeremy Kushnier<\/a> (Footloose, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Dr. Orin Scrivello DDS, Tony nominee Reg Rogers<\/a> (The Dazzle, Merrily We Roll Along) as Mushnik, Major Attaway<\/a> (Aladdin)
\n as The Voice of Audrey II, Hailey Thomas as Ronnette, Savannah Lee
\nBirdsong as Crystal, and Morgan Ashley Bryant as Chiffon, as well as
\nWeston Chandler Long, Christine Wanda, Aveena Sawyer<\/a>, Jeff Sears,
\nMichael Iannucci, Jonothon Lyons<\/a>, Noel MacNeal, Johnny Newcomb, Jon
\nRiddleberger, Mecca Hicks, Bryan Fenkart<\/a>, Khadija Sankoh, and Kevin Del
\nAguila.<\/p>\n

Previous players in the roles of Seymour and Audrey Off-Broadway have
\n included Jonathan Groff<\/a>, Tammy Blanchard<\/a>, Jeremy Jordan<\/a>, Lena Hall<\/a>,
\nMaude Apatow, Gideon Glick<\/a>, Rob McClure<\/a>, Skylar Astin<\/a>, Conrad Ricamora<\/a>,
\nMatt Doyle<\/a>, Darren Criss<\/a>, Milo Manheim, Sherie Rene Scott<\/a>,\u00a0Evan Rachel Wood, Corbin Bleu<\/a>, Constance Wu, Sarah Hyland<\/a>, Andrew Barth Feldman<\/a>, and RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon<\/a>, who became first drag queen
\n to play Audrey in a major production of the musical.<\/p>\n

The Off-Broadway revival began previews September 17, 2019, prior to
\nan official opening October 17; the production resumed its run September
\n 21, 2021, after temporarily closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
<\/a><\/p>\n

Director Michael Mayer’s creative team for the Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical also
\nincludes choreographer Ellenore Scott, scenic designer Julian Crouch<\/a>,
\nlighting designer Bradley King<\/a>, costume designer Tom Broecker<\/a>, sound
\ndesigner Jessica Paz<\/a>, puppet designer Nicholas Mahon, original puppet
\ndesigner Martin P. Robinson<\/a>, hair and makeup designer Tommy Kurzman<\/a>,
\nmusic supervisor, orchestrator, and arranger Will Van Dyke<\/a>, and casting
\ndirector Jim Carnahan<\/a>. Puppets are by Monkey Boys Productions.<\/p>\n

General management is by Live Wire Theatrical\/Chris Aniello<\/a>, and production stage management is by Kate Croasdale<\/a>.<\/p>\n
