Healthlink JAX, Project Save Lives and Dental Care Access are among the programs facing elimination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Holley Lewis, a breast cancer survivor who underwent treatment nearly 10 years ago, said programs like the Dental Care Access were vital to her recovery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIf it\u2019s available, at least you have a hope of getting something taken care of,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cBut if it\u2019s not available, you have no hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">If these programs were eliminated, that would only add another hurdle for people going through treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI would want people to be able to have dental care, because if you\u2019re walking around with a bad mouth, what can you do about it?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">These programs have helped uninsured residents access clinics, prescriptions, and preventative care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cSo if they cut it, they\u2019ll no longer have the help they need, therefore bringing forth more stress in the city,\u201d Josh Walker said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">One resident who didn\u2019t want to be identified recalled a time when Telehealth helped her through a difficult circumstance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve used that, and during a time when I could not move, it was necessary, so for them to get rid of that program would not work,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">News4JAX reached out to the programs possibly facing full elimination.
