The mission will carry critical research and supplies, including a diverse array of investigations sponsored by the\u00a0International Space Station (ISS) National Laboratory\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p>During this mission, the ISS National Lab continues its commitment to enabling space-based research that brings value to humanity and supports the development of a robust and sustainable economy in low Earth orbit. The investigations launching include\u00a0biomedical and physical science research,\u00a0technology demonstrations, and\u00a0student-led projects, showcasing the breadth of innovation made possible through access to the orbiting laboratory.<\/p>\n<p>ISS National Lab-sponsored investigations on this mission include the following:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine will study engineered liver tissue containing blood vessels in microgravity. Originating from NASA&#8217;s Vascular Tissue Challenge, this project could advance <b><a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4493437-1&amp;h=585565535&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fissnationallab.org%2Fresearch-and-science%2Fspace-research-overview%2Fresearch-areas%2Fin-space-production-applications%2Ftissue-engineering-and-regenerative-medicine%2F&amp;a=tissue+engineering+in+space\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tissue engineering in space<\/a><\/b>\u00a0to support future organ replacement for patients on Earth and beyond.<\/li>\n<li>Cedars-Sinai Medical Center will evaluate whether induced pluripotent stem cells divide faster in space, which could accelerate regenerative medicine breakthroughs. <b><a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4493437-1&amp;h=4160554737&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fissnationallab.org%2Fpress-releases%2Fax2-cedars-sinai-stem-cells%2F&amp;a=This+project+builds+on+multiple+investigations+from+this+research+team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">This project builds on multiple investigations from this research team<\/a><\/b> over the years and could further in-space manufacturing capabilities to produce stem cell-based therapies for heart disease, neurodegenerative conditions, and more.<\/li>\n<li>ISS National Lab Commercial Service Provider Axiom Space is partnering with Red Hat, a leading provider of open-source solutions, to validate\u00a0edge computing technologies through the Red Hat Device Edge platform. Real-time data processing capabilities in orbit will be paramount to scaling R&amp;D and manufacturing on future space platforms.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple student-led projects aim to prepare the space workforce of tomorrow. One project is from the\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4493437-1&amp;h=2321017736&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fissnationallab.org%2Fupward%2F8-2-genes-ins-space-follow-up%2F&amp;a=annual%C2%A0Genes+in+Space%C2%A0competition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">annual\u00a0Genes in Space\u00a0competition<\/a><\/b>, in which students in grades 7-12 propose genetics-related investigations to be done on the space station. The project aims to use bacteriophages as therapeutic agents to combat potential microbial infections in space. Additionally, the <b><a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4493437-1&amp;h=3600502117&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fissnationallab.org%2Feducation%2Fstudent-spotlight-one-space-experiment-many-opportunities%2F&amp;a=Higher+Orbits+Go+For+Launch!%C2%A0program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Higher Orbits Go For Launch!\u00a0program<\/a><\/b> will send multiple experiments from students in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These investigations reflect the growing demand for space-based R&amp;D and the expanding role of the space station as a platform for innovation.
