Oh, it\u2019s a thing\u2014and it launched today in North Texas. California-based <strong>Chipotle\u00a0<\/strong>has begun flying out its full-menu in a new drone delivery service called\u00a0<strong>Zipotle<\/strong>, starting with a single Chipotle location at 3109 Lakeview Parkway in Rowlett, northeast of Dallas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">In a partnership with the drone delivery company <strong>Zipline<\/strong>, \u201cZip\u201d drones will travel directly to customers\u2019 houses, delivering digital Chipotle orders in just a few minutes of flying time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA small number\u201d of Zipline users will have access to Zipotle starting today, with a broader service launch following in the coming weeks, Chipotle said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZipotle is a quick and convenient source of delivery that lets guests enjoy our real food from places that are traditionally challenging to serve, including backyards and public parks,\u201d Curt Garner, president and chief strategy and technology officer at Chipotle, said in a statement<b>.<\/b>\u00a0\u201cZipline\u2019s commitment to building an efficient, environmentally friendly delivery experience is synonymous with our mission to Cultivate a Better World.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How Zipotle works<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how Zipotle works, per the company:<\/p>\n<p>:: Customers in the Rowlett area can download the Zipline app on the <a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4492845-1&amp;h=1350659516&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fapps.apple.com%2Fus%2Fapp%2Fzipline-drone-delivery%2Fid6472111511&amp;a=Apple\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0store or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4492845-1&amp;h=1863154619&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fplay.google.com%2Fstore%2Fapps%2Fdetails%3Fid%3Dcom.flyzipline.orderingapp%26hl%3Den_US&amp;a=Android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Android<\/a> store and, if eligible, place their Chipotle order.<\/p>\n<p>:: Employees will place the order into a Zipping Point, which allows Zips to autonomously pick up the order for delivery.<\/p>\n<p>:: After flying to its destination, the aircraft will hover about 300 feet in the air, while the Zip lowers to the ground.
