He’ll be joining their big league team.<\/p>\n \u2014 Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) August 21, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Kimbrel, 37, has made just one big league appearance this season, pitching a scoreless inning with the Atlanta Braves. Now, he\u2019ll join the Astros in a postseason race after they lost All-Star closer Josh Hader for the foreseeable future with a left shoulder capsule strain.<\/a><\/p>\n Kimbrel is a nine-time All-Star and one-time World Series champion as a member of the 2018 Boston Red Sox team that beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. Across his 16-year career, Kimbrel has played for eight teams \u2014 the Braves, San Diego Padres, Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles \u2014 sporting a 2.59 ERA with 440 saves over 810.2 innings pitched.<\/p>\n Last year with the Orioles, Kimbrel had a 5.33 ERA over 57 appearances with the Orioles.
