\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLincoln Center Theater’s Ragtime Finds Full Cast<\/p>\n

Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandon Uranowitz, and Nichelle Lewis are leading the Ahrens and Flaherty musical after starring in it at New York City Center last year.<\/p>\n

It was the music of a revival beginning! Full casting has been revealed for Lincoln Center Theater<\/a>‘s upcoming revival of Lynn Ahrens<\/a>, Stephen Flaherty<\/a>, and Terrence McNally<\/a>‘s\u00a0Ragtime<\/a>, set to play the company’s Vivian Beaumont Theater beginning September 26 ahead of an October 16 opening night. The 14-week limited engagement will continue through January 4, 2026. Freshly appointed Artistic Director Lear deBessonet is at the helm after creating the production in 2024 for New York City Center<\/a>‘s Gala.<\/p>\n

Newly joining the previously announced<\/a> cast are Anna Grace Barlow<\/a> as Evelyn Nesbit, Nick Barrington<\/a> as The Little Boy, and Tabitha Lawing<\/a> as The Little Girl.<\/p>\n

The company will be led by the earlier reported\u00a0Joshua Henry<\/a> as Coalhouse Walker, Jr., Caissie Levy<\/a> as Mother, Brandon Uranowitz<\/a> as Tateh,\u00a0Colin Donnell<\/a> (Anything Goes) as Father, Nichelle Lewis<\/a> (The Wiz) as Sarah, Ben Levi Ross<\/a> (Dear Evan Hansen) as Mother’s Younger Brother, Shaina Taub<\/a> (Suffs) as Emma Goldman, John Clay III<\/a> (New York, New York) as Booker T. Washington, and Rodd Cyrus<\/a> (The Light in the Piazza) as Harry Houdini, all\u00a0reprising their performances from the New York City Center run.<\/p>\n

Swings and understudies Eean Sherrod Cochran, Kerry Conte<\/a>, Nick Gaswirth<\/a>, Jackson Parker Gill<\/a>, Jenny Mollet<\/a>, Matthew Scott<\/a>, and Ellie May Sennett<\/a> will round out the company. Casting is by The Telsey Office<\/a>‘s Craig Burns.<\/p>\n

Ragtime will feature choreography by Ellenore Scott<\/a>, set design by David Korins<\/a>, costume design by Linda Cho<\/a>, lighting design by Adam Honore\u0301, sound design by Kai Harada<\/a>, projection design by 59 Productions<\/a>, and hair and wig design by Tom Watson<\/a>. Music director James Moore<\/a> will conduct a 28-piece orchestra featuring original orchestrations by William David Brohn<\/a>, and vocal arrangements by Flaherty. Cody Renard Richard<\/a> serves as production stage manager.<\/p>\n

Based on a novel by E.L. Doctorow<\/a>, Ragtime blends fact and fiction telling the story of New York City at the dawn of the 20th century, with a book by Terrence McNally, music by Flaherty, and lyrics by Ahrens. The story focuses on Coalhouse Walker, Jr., a Black man who buys a Model T Ford and sets off a chain of events that encompass all levels of New York City society, along with magician Harry Houdini, industrialist Henry Ford, celebrity party girl Evelyn Nesbit, civil rights leader Booker T. Washington, architect Stanford White, anarchist Emma Goldman, a Jewish Latvian immigrant who becomes a movie director, and an upper class white family living in suburban New Rochelle.<\/p>\n

The musical premiered on Broadway in 1998 following a pre-Broadway bow in Toronto, with an original cast that boasted Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, and Marin Mazzie. McDonald won the second of her six career Tony Awards for her featured performance as Sarah. Even in a year otherwise dominated by juggernaut The Lion King, Ragtime managed to also win Tonys for McNally’s book and Flaherty and Ahrens’ score, along with Brohn’s orchestrations.<\/p>\n

The LCT staging is being produced in association with Tom Kirdahy<\/a>, Kevin Ryan<\/a>, Robert Greenblatt<\/a>, and\u00a0Lamar Richardson.<\/p>\n
