PHOENIX \u2014 Phoenix matched a daily heat record on Thursday that was originally set just six years ago.<\/p>\n

The thermometer at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the National Weather Service (NWS) uses for the city\u2019s official records, reached 114 degrees around 3:15 p.m.<\/p>\n

The daily heat record<\/a> for Aug. 21 was originally set in 2019.<\/p>\n

What does weather the rest of the week look like for Phoenix?<\/p>\n

Metro Phoenix is an extreme heat warning<\/a> that was originally supposed to end at 8 p.m. on Friday but was extended until Sunday.<\/p>\n

There is also a chance for monsoon storm activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Isaac Smith of NWS Phoenix told\u00a0KTAR News 92.3 FM\u00a0on Wednesday morning that storm chances increased across the Phoenix area by upwards of 20-30%.<\/p>\n

There were isolated storms<\/a> in parts of the Valley last week, but Phoenix Sky Harbor still hasn\u2019t seen measurable rainfall since July 2.<\/p>\n
