{"id":166279,"date":"2025-08-22T10:43:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/166279\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T10:43:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T10:43:11","slug":"katy-perry-to-testify-on-daughters-birthday-in-15m-mansion-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/166279\/","title":{"rendered":"Katy Perry to testify on daughter\u2019s birthday in $15M mansion battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Katy Perry will deliver fireworks next week.<\/p>\n<p>The Post can confirm that the pop star is set to testify in the second phase of the real estate war with Carl Westcott on Tuesday, August 26, which also happens to be her daughter <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/katyperry\/status\/1430938955571101697\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Daisy Dove\u2019s birthday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The damages trial over the $15 million home Perry, 40, purchased from Westcott, 85, in 2020 kicked off in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, with Judge Joseph Lipner shooting down her legal team\u2019s request for the singer to testify on day one of the legal battle.<\/p>\n<p>Katy Perry and daughter, Daisy, in New York at Madison Square Garden on August 11, 2025. Katy Perry<\/p>\n<p>After being instructed to reschedule Perry\u2019s testimony, her lawyers confirmed her availability for Tuesday around 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cI Kissed a Girl\u201d singer, who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/25\/entertainment\/katy-perrys-space-inspired-lifetimes-tour-gets-mixed-reviews-from-fans\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is currently on tour<\/a>, will now go under oath virtually on her only child\u2019s special day.<\/p>\n<p>Perry and her ex-fianc\u00e9, Orlando Bloom, welcomed Daisy in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Sources familiar with the case told The Post that Westcott\u2019s team allegedly wasn\u2019t made aware of her attorney\u2019s plan to have the star testify today until late Wednesday, and Judge Lipner wasn\u2019t thrilled with the idea. <\/p>\n<p>Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom with daughter Daisy in New York City on Sept. 4, 2024. Courtesty of Carl Westcott<\/p>\n<p>Daily Mail was inside the courtroom to capture the judge\u2019s reaction. \u201cIt\u2019s outrageous, it\u2019s not nice, it\u2019s unfair,\u201d he said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-15022953\/katy-perry-mansion-trial-judge-slams-lawyers-surprise-testimony.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">per the outlet<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The outlet also reported that Perry\u2019s attorney, Eric Rowen, accused Westcott\u2019s lawyers of \u201ctargeting\u201d her and \u201ccreating a media circus,\u201d and that the singer\u2019s testimony won\u2019t take longer than two hours.<\/p>\n<p>The Post reached out to the singer\u2019s team for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The Montecito, California, mansion at the center of their legal battle. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The real estate war began five years ago after Perry bought the $15 million Montecito, Calif., mansion from Westcott.<\/p>\n<p>Days after the sale, the entrepreneur tried backing out of the deal, claiming he lacked the mental capacity\u00a0to understand the contract and was on pain medication due to a recent back surgery when he agreed to sell the home. <\/p>\n<p>During the first phase of the trial, the judge ruled that \u201cWestcott presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity to enter into a real estate contract between June 10, 2020, and June 18, 2020, the days during which he negotiated and signed the contract.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u2018RHOD\u2019 alum Kameron Wescott with her father-in-law, Carl Westcott, and two children. Kameron Wescott\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>He also ruled that Westcott seemed to be \u201ccoherent, engaged, lucid, and rational\u201d based on evidence. The judge <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/23\/real-estate\/katy-perry-becomes-the-official-owner-of-a-15m-montecito-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">declared Perry the rightful owner<\/a>\u00a0of the property in December 2023. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWide Awake\u201d songbird then countersued Westcott for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/23\/real-estate\/katy-perry-becomes-the-official-owner-of-a-15m-montecito-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$3.25 million in damages<\/a> she allegedly incurred from being unable to rent the house during their legal fight from September 2020 to March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s since been reported that actor Chris Pratt, 46, and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, 35,\u00a0have been <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/21\/real-estate\/chris-pratt-dragged-into-katy-perrys-legal-feud-with-veteran-over-15-million-montecito-mansion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">allegedly renting the estate<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Katy Perry performs onstage during The Lifetimes Tour on August 11, 2025 in New York City. Santi Ramales \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n<p>Perry later added an additional <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/07\/entertainment\/katy-perry-called-giant-spoiled-brat-in-15m-mansion-war-against-veteran\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$2.2 million for alleged repairs<\/a> to restore the property to its purchased condition, citing structural defects and deferred maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Phase two of the trial is about those alleged damages Perry claims she\u2019s owed from Westcott, who is now bedridden and suffering from the neurological disorder Huntington\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n<p>His son, Court, who is famously married to \u201cReal Housewives of Dallas\u201d alum Kameron Westcott, was at the courthouse on Thursday and addressed his father\u2019s ailing health.<\/p>\n<p>Bedridden Carl Westcott being hugged by his grandson. He\u2019s fading very much and we\u2019re toward the end for sure,\u201d he told The Post. <\/p>\n<p>Court\u2019s statement echoes what his brother, Chart, previously said. <\/p>\n<p>According to Chart, he does not discuss the trial with his father because <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/21\/entertainment\/katy-perry-could-be-forgiven-by-veterans-family-in-15m-mansion-war\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">they want to \u201cspare him\u201d<\/a> from the stress. <\/p>\n<p>Court Westcott outside the Los Angeles courthouse on August 21. Andy Johnstone for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re trying to make him as peaceful as possible so we don\u2019t bring it up to him,\u201d Chart <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/21\/entertainment\/katy-perry-could-be-forgiven-by-veterans-family-in-15m-mansion-war\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shared with The Post<\/a> this week. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to cause any sort of agitation with him,\u201d he explained, noting their father is \u201ctired, dying and old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chart said he\u2019s hoping Perry will apologize for subjecting his family to the burdens of the trial. \u201cAn apology would be nice. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I\u2019m] not expecting it,\u201d Chart added. <\/p>\n<p>Perry and Bloom <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/25\/entertainment\/katy-perry-and-orlando-bloom-split-end-6-year-engagement-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ended their six-year engagement<\/a> in June. They later released a joint statement through their reps about their breakup, sharing that their main concern is raising their daughter. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry\u2019s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting,\u201d their spokespeople\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/celebrity-news\/news\/katy-perry-and-orlando-bloom-break-silence-on-their-split\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">told Us Weekly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is \u2014 and always will be \u2014 raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect,\u201d the statement concluded.<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/03\/entertainment\/katy-perry-orlando-bloom-confirm-split-after-ending-engagement\/#\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Katy Perry will deliver fireworks next week.
