Dallas country singer-songwriter Joshua Ray Walker<\/a> announced today he\u2019ll release his second concept album in a four-month span.<\/p>\n

Stuff, due out Oct. 17, is a 10-song collection, with each tune written from the perspective of an inanimate object at an estate sale. \u201cSold out on the lawn, worn well but not tattered, we\u2019re what gets left behind,\u201d Walker sings on the title track.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis song is a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and an introduction to my most ambitious concept record to date,\u201d he said in a statement, adding that Stuff marks a stylistic shift toward a stripped-down sound inspired by Bon Iver, the Postal Service and other bands he\u2019s loved for years.<\/p>\n

In June, Walker released Tropicana<\/a>, a concept album about a mythical beachside hotel he imagined during the toughest days of his battle with cancer. Like Tropicana, the singer wrote and began recording the songs on Stuff with producer John Pedigo while getting chemotherapy for Stage 3 colon cancer.<\/p>\n

In October, he announced on social media that doctors could no longer detect the cancer: \u201cI\u2019m ecstatic \u2026 for now, my life is not in imminent danger.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday night, Walker performs at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on a multi-act bill featuring Vince Gill. This fall, he\u2019ll hit the road for a 24-show tour opening for Molly Tuttle. He\u2019ll also headline a homecoming concert at the State Fair of Texas<\/a> on Oct. 6.<\/p>\n
