1.\u00a0Ex-Adams aide pleads not guilty to new bribery charges<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Mayor Eric Adams’ longtime confidante and former chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, was indicted today on charges that she accepted more than $75,000 in bribes during her time at City Hall.<\/p>\n

Lewis-Martin, who\u00a0resigned from her role\u00a0days before she was\u00a0indicted on separate corruption charges\u00a0last December, pleaded not guilty to the new charges in court this morning.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Beaches to remain closed to swimming Friday amid rip current threat<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The city\u2019s public beaches will remain closed to swimming Friday as Hurricane Erin continues to bring dangerous rip currents to the area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Erin will be passing \u201cwell offshore\u201d of the five boroughs<\/a> tonight, the city says coastlines could see waves of up to 16 feet. Coastal flooding is\u00a0expected during high tide\u00a0tonight and tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Appeals court throws out massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A New York appeals court today threw out the massive financial penalty a state judge imposed on President Donald Trump, while narrowly upholding a finding he engaged in fraud by exaggerating his wealth for decades.<\/p>\n

The ruling spares Trump from a potential half-billion-dollar fine but bans him and his two eldest sons from serving in corporate leadership for a few years. Trump, in a social media post, claimed “total victory.”<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Judge says former Trump lawyer Alina Habba has been unlawfully serving as U.S. attorney in New Jersey<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A judge ruled today that President Trump’s former lawyer, Alina Habba, has been unlawfully serving as the the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

The court, saying the administration used “a novel series of legal and personnel moves,” held that Habba’s term as the interim U.S. attorney ended in July, and the Trump administration’s maneuvers to keep her in the role without getting confirmation from the U.S. Senate didn’t follow procedures required by federal law.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Trump administration reviewing all 55 million people with U.S. visas for potential deportable violations<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The State Department said today that it’s reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners who hold valid U.S. visas for potential revocation or deportable violations of immigration rules.<\/p>\n

In a written answer to a question posed by The Associated Press, the department said that all U.S. visa holders are subject to “continuous vetting” with an eye toward any indication that they could be ineligible for the document.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0California is set to act fast after Texas advances congressional maps to boost Republicans<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The\u00a0national redistricting battle\u00a0enters its next phase today as California Democrats are scheduled to pass a new congressional map that creates five winnable seats for their party, a direct counter to\u00a0the Texas House’s approval\u00a0of a new map to create more conservative-leaning seats in that state.<\/p>\n

California Gov.
