FBI agents<\/a> on Thursday morning raided the Maryland home of John Bolton<\/a>, the former national security adviso<\/a>r to President Donald Trump<\/a> and a staunch critic of the president, NBC News confirmed.<\/p>\n The raid is part of a “national security investigation in search of classified records,” a person familiar with the matter told NBC News.<\/p>\n An FBI official said, “The FBI is conducting court authorized activity in the area. There is no threat to public safety,” but declined to comment on Bolton, according to NBC. That statement indicates a judge authorized the search of Bolton’s residence.<\/p>\n FBI Director Kash Patel<\/a> tweeted “NO ONE is above the law\u2026 @FBI<\/a> agents on mission” at around 7 a.m. ET, the same time his agents reportedly arrived at Bolton’s residence in Bethesda, near Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n Attorney General Pam Bondi<\/a> retweeted Patel’s tweet, writing, “America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”<\/p>\n And Patel’s deputy director at the FBI, Dan Bongino, in his own post on X wrote, “Public corruption will not be tolerated.”<\/p>\n The New York Post<\/a> first reported the raid.<\/p>\n Patel ordered the investigation into Bolton, according to the Post, which cited a Trump administration official.<\/p>\n
