The city’s Legionnaires’ disease outbreak has been linked to cooling towers in the complex that use water and a fan to cool buildings.

The bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease had been discovered in 12 cooling towers on 10 buildings. Remediation efforts have been undertaken in the towers

There have been four deaths, more than 100 diagnosed cases, and more than 17 people hospitalized as a result of the outbreak, according to the city.

The lawsuits have been brought against construction management firms Rising Sun Construction and Skanska USA Building that hired the subcontractors. Quinto and Headley allege the construction firms failed to take reasonable steps to correct the conditions to make their workplace safe and they claim the firms are strictly liable for their injuries under New York’s labor law.

Weitz & Luxenberg, the law firm of nationally-known civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump, is representing the plaintiffs.

            Topics
Lawsuits
New York
Numbers

Was this article valuable?

            Yes
No

Here are more articles you may enjoy.

            Interested in Lawsuits?

Get automatic alerts for this topic.

Two construction workers who contracted Legionnaires’ disease while working at a site in New York City have filed…

[5122
5229,93783,405,403,5226,5225,5228,5227,67,586,132,5230,68,2969
0":"post-166502","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-legionnaires-disease-outbreak","10":"tag-new-york","11":"tag-new-york-city","12":"tag-newyork","13":"tag-newyorkcity","14":"tag-ny","15":"tag-nyc","16":"tag-united-states","17":"tag-united-states-of-america","18":"tag-unitedstates","19":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","20":"tag-us","21":"tag-usa
["GET
