This acquisition aims to improve Suno\u2019s editing capabilities for songwriters and producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WavTool, launched in 2023, offers several tools to musicians, such as stem separation, AI audio generation, and an AI music assistant. Suno will integrate WavTool\u2019s technology into its new <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/suno.com\/blog\/songeditor\" target=\"_blank\">editing interface<\/a>, which launched this month.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. A company spokesperson noted that \u201cmost\u201d of the WavTool employees moved to Suno\u2019s product and engineering teams, although the exact number of those who did not make the move wasn\u2019t revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The acquisition comes on the heels of yet another <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.musicbusinessworldwide.com\/suno-and-udio-hit-with-class-action-lawsuits-from-independent-artists\/\" target=\"_blank\">lawsuit<\/a> against the company. Country musician Tony Justice and his music label, 5th Wheel Records, filed a lawsuit against Suno earlier this month, alleging that Suno used\u00a0copyrighted sound recordings to train its AI music generator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allegation is similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2024\/06\/25\/the-riaas-lawsuit-against-generative-music-startups-will-be-the-bloodbath-ai-needs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuits<\/a> filed last year by Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment against Suno for copyright infringement. According to Bloomberg, the major music labels are in <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/06\/02\/major-record-labels-are-reportedly-in-licensing-talks-with-ai-firms-udio-and-suno\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">licensing talks<\/a> with Suno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Suno acquired WavTool a few months ago, with the browser-based DAW going offline in November. Timing the announcement for this week seems intentional, possibly aimed at diverting attention from the lawsuit.
