Red Savage has signed a two-year AHL contract with the Rochester Americans after the Detroit Red Wings opted not to sign the former fourth-round pick earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Savage, 22, spent the past two seasons at Michigan State, where the 5-11, 185-pound center tallied 15 goals and 23 assists in 58 games. He spent the previous two years at Miami (Ohio), where he picked up 13 goals and 17 assists in 67 games.<\/p>\n
Savage helped the Spartans will the Big 10 Championship both seasons, along with goaltender and Red Wings prospect Trey Augustine. Savage was MSU\u2019s captain as a senior before suffering a season-ending injury in January.<\/p>\n
