The happy call to “Eat. Sip. Repeat” is one that foodies will answer most enthusiastically, especially when the cuisine-centered celebration is taking place at several beloved restaurants.<\/p>\n
Those are just the businesses that are in food-strong focus each August when Black Restaurant Week<\/a> returns to Southern California. <\/p>\n The restaurant-championing, chef-spotlighting celebration was founded in 2016 in Houston by Falayn Ferrell, Derek Robinson, and Warren Luckett. Soon after its initial launch, cities across the country were joining the joyful week-plus happening, including Atlanta and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n The event’s Los Angeles happening opens Aug. 22, giving locals the opportunity to try out great brick-and-mortar eateries, and food trucks, too, and several acclaimed Black-owned businesses over several late-August days and evenings.<\/p>\n That cuisine includes Camille’s Culinary Creations, Blaqhausnoho, and The Vegan Joint; find the full list on this site<\/a>, as well as details about what each participating restaurant has planned for the event.<\/p>\n SoCal Gas is presenting the 2025 celebration, which includes some special highlights like a complimentary cooking demo<\/a> for foodservice professionals with Chef Denise Smith on Aug. 25. The theme? Yummy: It’s Southern Desserts.<\/p>\n Black Restaurant Week is devoted to “(c)elebrating the flavors of African American, African, and Caribbean cuisine” and connecting diners with great Black-owned businesses creating memorable dishes and experiences.<\/p>\n
