That&#8217;s a big drop from the nearly 30-thousand recorded a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p>Experts say it&#8217;s because of less food availability to to climate change. The whales spend summer months in Arctic waters where they eat shrimp like critters called amphipods. Then, they migrate 10-thousand miles south for the winter to the waters of the Baja peninsula.
