Boston Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler is reportedly being removed from the starting rotation.<\/p>\n
The Boston Globe\u2019s Peter Abraham first reported the news on Friday.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuehler is coming out of the rotation,\u201d Abraham posted on Bluesky.<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s news comes after Red Sox manager Alex Cora was recently noncommittal<\/a> when asked if Buehler would start on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles. Buehler was in line to take the bump for Monday\u2019s series opener, following Lucas Giolito, Brayan Bello, Garrett Crochet and Dustin May in the current four-game series against the New York Yankees.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n Buehler signed a one-year, $21.05 million contract with the Red Sox in December and has mostly struggled<\/a> during the 2025 season.<\/p>\n The two-time All-Star enters Friday at 7-7 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and just 82 strikeouts against 54 walks in 22 starts (110 innings pitched).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Buehler allowed two runs on four hits, four strikeouts and four walks in four innings against the Orioles on Wednesday during his last outing. Buehler\u2019s lack of control has hindered his ability to work deep into games, as he\u2019s worked six or more innings in six of his last 13 appearances.<\/p>\n Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n It isn\u2019t clear who will take 31-year-old\u2019s spot in the rotation, but the team could have multiple options.<\/p>\n
