1.\u00a0Fate of Deep Ellum nightclub still up in the air<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

The future of a well-known Deep Ellum nightclub remains uncertain as city leaders and business owners grapple with how best to address safety concerns in one of North Texas\u2019 largest entertainment districts.<\/p>\n

Rodeo Dallas has been shuttered since early August, while Asana Partners \u2014 its property owners \u2014 are fighting in court to keep it closed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Texas Republicans unite around plan to replace the STAAR test<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

There is a stronger push this special session to replace the STAAR test with three smaller tests given at the beginning, middle and end of the school year.<\/p>\n

Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath defended the agency\u2019s ability to design tests that can be administered in a class period instead of the entire day with a shorter grading time to address student progress from a norm-referenced growth perspective.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0WNBA breaks single-season attendance record that had stood since 2002<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

With 2 1\/2 weeks left in the WNBA’s regular season, the league has already broken its single-season attendance record.<\/p>\n

League officials announced Thursday that the league’s 13 teams have drawn a total of 2,501,609 fans over 226 games this season, surpassing the previous mark that was set in 2002 when the league had 16 teams.\u00a0<\/p>\n
