He joined ESPN in 2010.<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"b0fc8fb7-9dbe-e574-9008-6f0ee7c6b234\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/dal\/dallas-cowboys\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a> open the 2025 NFL regular season at the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"d1a9b001-1df7-fbd7-ae4c-6ca7065286ec\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-eagles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> on Sept. 4 at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a lot of moving parts for the Cowboys as they try to formulate their roster. Do they address cornerback with a trade or free agent signing? Do they activate <a data-player-guid=\"0e3bdc4e-ae64-a3a7-8e84-95d4d2ebb408\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4040966\/trevon-diggs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevon Diggs<\/a> (knee) off the physically unable to perform list even if he is not ready to play the first two games? Does 2023 first-round pick <a data-player-guid=\"56f76012-a386-7ba9-8e58-8b306a37b18d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4426347\/mazi-smith\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mazi Smith<\/a> make the roster?<\/p>\n<p>The roster will be cut to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Here is a projection for the Cowboys:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/_end_rule.png\" width=\"100%\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>QUARTERBACKS (2):<\/strong> <a data-player-guid=\"5f09781b-6b0b-7325-049b-a91e60d794e6\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/2577417\/dak-prescott\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dak Prescott<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"874bf8b4-e29a-45ac-3deb-a36404104c8a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4360698\/joe-milton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Milton III<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Where&#8217;s <a data-player-guid=\"92748175-fa4f-e94e-a1a2-d4c2600cecb1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3115252\/will-grier\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Grier<\/a>? He is a vested veteran, so he won&#8217;t go through waivers. The Cowboys can have an unspoken agreement with him to return to the practice squad, all while knowing he will be on the season-opening roster against the Eagles. They did something similar with <a data-player-guid=\"f1706f6e-2a98-a598-6308-e1f7b278edf7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/2972515\/cooper-rush\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cooper Rush<\/a> a few years ago.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RUNNING BACKS (4):<\/strong> <a data-player-guid=\"0e04df01-7c44-1b1e-01a3-f73ab6f4eb61\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4361579\/javonte-williams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Javonte Williams<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"c9d42ca5-0120-49e1-7889-de762f2a665f\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4045163\/miles-sanders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miles Sanders<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"e03727d8-8fc1-33ad-9ec4-504f46b46bc8\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4685279\/jaydon-blue\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaydon Blue<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"5de791af-19cd-b23c-9a3a-95c185e9ace3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4383396\/hunter-luepke\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hunter Luepke<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Williams enters the season as the lead back. Blue&#8217;s ankle injury sidelined him for two preseason games, but he showed promise in practice. Sanders is likely on the bubble, but his experience got him the nod over rookie <a data-player-guid=\"695ff537-e84e-3fff-8706-affe370e5939\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4431562\/phil-mafah\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Phil Mafah<\/a>, who can slide to the practice squad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WIDE RECEIVERS (5):<\/strong> <a data-player-guid=\"2994891b-8927-33cb-6999-e809560d0545\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4241389\/ceedee-lamb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CeeDee Lamb<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"ab0fe70b-0fb4-fc8e-55e1-8f5204851a9d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4426354\/george-pickens\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">George Pickens<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"a755ab73-db5a-abfb-f236-49af16b5206e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3676833\/kavontae-turpin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">KaVontae Turpin<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"072d0980-0fc0-5f62-5ab5-e3897028a4aa\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4249417\/jalen-tolbert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jalen Tolbert<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"b474dfdc-9ccc-3669-b7fc-e5d7652bb480\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/5083754\/ryan-flournoy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Flournoy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lamb and Pickens give the Cowboys one of the best duos in the NFL. Turpin is a playmaker, but can he handle an expanded role? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4426485\/jonathan-mingo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Mingo<\/a> will open on injured reserve because of his knee sprain, so that might&#8217;ve saved Tolbert&#8217;s spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TIGHT ENDS (4):<\/strong> <a data-player-guid=\"88132b4d-ad57-d110-91a4-626c11215a70\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4242355\/jake-ferguson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jake Ferguson<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"c69292b3-4db5-8b9a-7fd1-803086f29200\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4372096\/luke-schoonmaker\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Schoonmaker<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"7838fad0-9905-a4fd-f670-354b60776596\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4360967\/brevyn-spann-ford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brevyn Spann-Ford<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"87a03b26-921c-db7a-ed6e-6d27d5a45fcd\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4242442\/princeton-fant\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Princeton Fant<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps a tad heavy here with Fant, considering Luepke will get time at tight end as well, but Spann-Ford missed the preseason games because of a high ankle sprain. Bass<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Guyton&#8217;s status for the opener is in question because of a broken bone suffered in his knee July 28, but he is increasing his rehab. Thomas would start if Guyton can&#8217;t go, and the Cowboys like what he has done this summer. Only he knows at this point. If he doesn&#8217;t, then <a data-player-guid=\"e6591214-de2b-3762-7b34-4c3e124c288c\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4240608\/james-houston\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">James Houston<\/a> claims the final spot. Liufau looks like he could make a second-year jump. Clark has appeared rejuvenated in this scheme. James, a rookie, has to be a special teams ace early. If that&#8217;s the case, by activating Diggs off PUP now, he could play in Week 3. If he stays on PUP, then he would miss the first four games. Look for the Cowboys to be aggressive in finding help at this spot.
