{"id":168417,"date":"2025-08-23T05:52:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T05:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/168417\/"},"modified":"2025-08-23T05:52:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-23T05:52:08","slug":"morgan-atop-u-s-senior-womens-open-sorenstam-fades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/168417\/","title":{"rendered":"Morgan atop U.S. Senior Women&#8217;s Open; Sorenstam fades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aug 22, 2025, 09:54 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>CHULA VISTA, Calif. &#8212; <a data-player-guid=\"527815a6-014c-6f55-b6ff-d7943f84ab90\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/player\/_\/id\/8230\/becky-morgan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Becky Morgan<\/a> of Wales shot a 5-under 68 on Friday to take the second-round lead in the U.S. Senior Women&#8217;s Open, while first-round leader Annika Sorenstam had a 78 to drop six strokes behind.<\/p>\n<p>Morgan had one of two rounds in the 60s in the first two days at San Diego Country Club. She had a 4-under 142 total after opening with a 74.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is my first one, having turned 50 last September,&#8221; Morgan said of playing the event. &#8220;But I like the course. It&#8217;s quite tricky. You&#8217;ve really got to hit the fairways, sort of get it in the right part of the greens, and today my putter was working, so it was good.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Maria McBride of Sweden and Corina Kelepouris of Canada were a stroke back. McBride shot 70, and Kelepouris had a 71.<\/p>\n<p>Liselotte Neumann (71) was 2 under with Ashli Bunch (69) and Moira Dunn-Bohls (73).
