PHOENIX \u2013 Impairment might have been a factor in fatal collision between a truck and a dirt bike in south Phoenix on Wednesday night, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to a call in the area of 16th Street and Southern Avenue<\/a> just before 10 p.m. and found two people on the ground next to a motorcycle, according to the Phoenix Police Department.<\/p>\n

Both patients were taken to a hospital, where 19-year old Britney Vasquez Gomez died from her injuries. <\/p>\n

The man who was driving the dirt bike suffered injuries that aren\u2019t considered life-threatening, police said.<\/p>\n

What did police say about fatal truck-dirt bike collision?<\/p>\n

The driver of the truck involved in the collision remained at the scene.<\/p>\n

According to preliminary information from police, the motorcycle was traveling south on 16th Street when it collided with the northbound truck as it was turning left into a private drive.<\/p>\n

The dirt bike driver didn\u2019t show signs of impairment, but the truck driver was evaluated and processed for DUI, police said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharging decisions will not be determined until the conclusion of the investigation,\u201d Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez said in a media advisory.<\/p>\n
