If you\u2019re planning to take the subway into Manhattan this weekend, you might need to rethink your route.<\/p>\n

Starting Friday night at 11:30 p.m., the 4, 5, and 6 trains will not run south of Grand Central Station, according to signs posted at Borough Hall and MTA officials<\/a>. That means no direct service from Brooklyn into Manhattan on those lines through the weekend.<\/p>\n

The disruption is part of a major track replacement project, and crews will be working through the weekend until 5 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

The MTA says these upgrades are designed to make the system run more smoothly \u2014 but not everyone is buying it.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time they say track work, all I hear is delays,\u201d said commuter Esmond Lewis. \u201cThey do track work during the week and it impacts me. I hear they\u2019re trying to make the trains run smoother\u2026 but honestly, I don\u2019t always believe it. I don\u2019t really see anything changing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The good news: This is the second and final weekend of these particular service changes.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re traveling from Borough Hall, you can still take the 2, 3, or R trains into Manhattan. Once in the city, the 42nd Street shuttle (7 train) will also be running overnight to help riders navigate Midtown.<\/p>\n

Bottom line: Give yourself extra time and expect some delays.
