After performing \u201cDie With a Smile\u201d solo on the piano, the fans gave her a prolonged ovation, and she became emotional, wiping tears from her eyes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that it\u2019s me standing up here, but you\u2019re all standing in here with me\u00a0\u2026 I feel so honored to be here tonight at Madison Square Garden,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m sure you can tell if you listen to the music that I am from here. Everything about my artistry, I think, was born in this town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure that all of my albums could not have been made without New York, but I am\u00a0sure\u00a0this album would not have been made without New York,\u201d she noted. She then launched into the\u00a0Born This Way track \u201cHair\u201d for the first time since 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the very end of the show, she threw in another Born This Way deep cut, the New York-centric \u201cHeavy Metal Lover,\u201d which she hadn\u2019t played since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the concert was a series of dazzling set pieces that blended nearly every cut from Mayhem with classics\u00a0including \u201cPaparazzi,\u201d \u201cPoker Face\u201d and \u201cLoveGame.\u201d They were grouped loosely by theme into four acts that told the story of Gaga struggling with her masked alter ego, \u201cThe Mistress of Mayhem,\u201d to find balance amid the chaos.<\/p>\n<p>She recreated the choreography from \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d rode in a boat for \u201cShallow,\u201d sang \u201cBloody Mary\u201d atop a dress that was several stories high, lit up a veil that stretched the entire length of the stage with rainbow colors, danced with a giant skull and sang in a massive sandbox.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The adoring crowd \u2014 sporting more corsets and fishnets than a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening \u2014 gave Mother Monster deafening applause, but never louder than for the Artpop song of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
