Thankfully, it appears to be good news for both players.

Campbell said Glasgow “should be good,” indicating that the Lions starting center appears to be healthy enough to play in the team’s season opener in two weeks. The news was a little less positive for Vaki, but still overall good.

“Vaki, we’ll see. That could be a tick longer (than Glasgow), but it’s not a major thing,” Campbell said.

For Glasgow, that’s a big relief, as Detroit doesn’t have a clear backup center. Kingsley Eguakun appears to be the favorite for the job, but he doesn’t have a single game of NFL experience.

Vaki is still expected to make the team as a huge special team threat in all phases. He appeared to be one of the team’s starting kick returners in practice, alongside linebacker Grant Stuard. In his place, Jacob Saylors took reps in the preseason finale. But with Saylors a bit of a longshot to make the team, the Lions may need another kicker returner in the season opener if Vaki isn’t ready by then. Craig Reynolds could be an option there.

Campbell also did note that reserve linebacker Ezekiel Turner’s injury in the preseason finale appears to be serious.

“Yeah, that could be tough.
