The US Open mixed doubles tournament was the talk of the tennis world over the past week.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fans were keen to see the top ATP<\/a> and WTA<\/a> singles players join forces to go for glory at Flushing Meadows before the single competition commences on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Over 78,000 fans were treated to exciting matches which included some pulsating rallies and back and forth action.<\/p>\n

Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori defended their titles<\/a> in the revamped competition and after watching it unfold, a former ATP player may want to be involved in the future.<\/p>\n

Carlos Alcaraz<\/a>, Ben Shelton<\/a> and Jack Draper<\/a> were some of the top singles players who competed in the US Open<\/a> mixed doubles this season.<\/p>\n

The only specialised doubles players to compete were Vavassori and Christian Harrison, who partnered Danielle Collins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former ATP player Jack Sock<\/a> played both singles and doubles during his career before he left the sport in 2023 to take up pickleball.<\/p>\n

But during the latest edition of the Nothing Major podcast, Sock did not rule out a return to play mixed doubles after watching the action from the revamped tournament at the US Open.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatching [the mixed doubles] yesterday actually made me think about it,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will see. Never say never. We will see!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sock has played 26 mixed doubles matches during his professional career.<\/p>\n

22 of those matches were played at Grand Slam level, and he won 13, giving Sock a win percentage of 59%.<\/p>\n

His best result was reaching the Wimbledon<\/a> semifinals in 2022 alongside two-time Grand Slam singles champion Coco Gauff.<\/p>\n

But his greatest success in mixed doubles came at the 2016 Olympic Games alongside Bethanie Mattek-Sands.<\/p>\n

They faced Rajeev Ram and Venus Williams<\/a> in the final, and they claimed a 6\u20137(3), 6\u20131, [10\u20137] victory to claim the coveted Olympic gold medal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The US Open mixed doubles tournament was the talk of the tennis world over the past week.
