{"id":171158,"date":"2025-08-24T07:25:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T07:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/171158\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T07:25:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T07:25:17","slug":"midtown-coffee-shop-worker-slashed-in-neck-needed-19-stitches-to-close-gash-da","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/171158\/","title":{"rendered":"Midtown coffee shop worker slashed in neck needed 19 stitches to close gash: DA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Midtown coffee shop dishwasher who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/08\/21\/midtown-coffee-shop-employee-slashed-neck-murder-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slashed in the neck during a senseless argument over an occupied bathroom<\/a> lost a massive amount of blood in the daytime attack and needed 19 stitches to close the gnarly wound, prosecutors said Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Details about the Wednesday attack outside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mokanco.com\/locations\/manhattan--midtown-34th-st\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.mokanco.com\/locations\/manhattan--midtown-34th-st\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moka &amp; Co.<\/a>, an organic Yemeni coffee chain on W. 34th St. near Seventh Ave., were released as Wagner Louis, the man who slashed the 50-year-old employee, was ordered held without bail.<\/p>\n<p>Louis, 32, is accused of attacking the dishwasher after the worker told him that he couldn\u2019t use the bathroom because it was occupied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was, like, \u2018Wait, wait, there\u2019s somebody in there,\u2019\u201d Moka &amp; Co. employee Zainab Tabasi told the Daily News Thursday. \u201cAnd then that kind of turned into an argument, I don\u2019t know how.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louis allegedly made a scene and began yelling at staff when he was asked to leave the store. The dishwasher followed Louis outside, where the suspect pulled out a blade and sliced his neck during the 3 p.m. clash, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow can you be, like, so disrespectful?\u201d Tabasi asked. \u201cWhatever, just leave.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dishwasher suffered two deep gashes to the right side of his neck and \u201cextensive bleeding from the neck,\u201d prosecutors said at Louis\u2019 arraignment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe moment I saw that, I thought, \u2018He\u2019s dead,\u201d Tabasi recalled. \u201cI could literally see his veins. I thought he was gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>EMS rushed the coffee shop employee to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mokanco.com\/locations\/manhattan--midtown-34th-st\" data-mrf-link=\"https:\/\/www.mokanco.com\/locations\/manhattan--midtown-34th-st\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bellevue Hospital<\/a>, where he was in critical condition \u201cfor several hours\u201d before finally being stabilized.<\/p>\n<p>Louis ran to a waiting white Honda Civic and sped off, but responding police caught him on Park Ave. near E. 33rd St. after a four-block pursuit, cops said. He was charged with attempted murder, assault and weapons possession.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said that Louis has three prior felony convictions, all for selling drugs.
