{"id":171428,"date":"2025-08-24T10:06:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/171428\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T10:06:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:06:22","slug":"kilmar-abrego-garcia-to-be-deported-after-refusing-plea-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/171428\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be deported after refusing plea offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Federal authorities warned alleged MS-13 gangbanger Kilmar Abrego Garcia they plan to deport him\u00a0to Uganda\u00a0after he refused\u00a0an offer\u00a0to plead guilty to human smuggling charges and serve his sentence in Costa Rica, his attorneys said in a Saturday court filing.<\/p>\n<p>The Salvadoran migrant, 30, was offered the deal Thursday night but rejected it, opting instead to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/22\/us-news\/alleged-ms-13-gangbanger-kilmar-abrego-garcia-released-from-tennessee-jail\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">walk free on Friday from a federal lock up in Tennessee<\/a>\u00a0and return home to his family in Maryland until his trial began, according to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chrome-extension\/\/efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj\/https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.tnmd.104621\/gov.uscourts.tnmd.104621.113.0.pdf\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">the seven-page filing<\/a>\u00a0in Federal District Court in Nashville.<\/p>\n<p>Abrego Garcia was deported in March and sent to El Salvador\u2019s notorious\u00a0Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo, or CECOT.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kilmar Abrego Garcia\u00a0will be sent to Uganda after declining an offer to be sent to Costa Rica in exchange for remaining in jail and pleading guilty to human smuggling charges. Police in Tennessee had suspected human smuggling, but he was not charged at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Abrego Garcia\u00a0pleaded not guilty\u00a0to smuggling charges, stemming from a 2022 traffic stop for speeding.
