To the joy of the property world\u2019s movers and shakers, the Real Estate Board of New York is moving its annual winter celebration to the reborn\u00a0Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Jan. 22.<\/p>\n
The gathering\u00a0previously known as the REBNY Gala is now the REBNY Annual. After the\u00a0pandemic reduced it to Zoom status in 2021, the actual event was\u00a0shunted in 2022\u00a0from its previous longtime home at the New York Hilton to the Glasshouse on 12th Avenue \u2014 \u00a0which wasn\u2019t wildly popular with attendees who missed the old seated dinner with\u00a0pomp and circumstance.<\/p>\n

It\u00a0was held there in the spring for two years before REBNY moved it back to January in 2025. Guests in both seasons disliked the new, strolling-and-snacking format that was \u201cjust like the dozens of\u00a0brokers\u2019 parties we go to every year,\u201d as one legendary rainmaker told Realty Check.<\/p>\n

The 130th REBNY gathering in January aims to restore the event\u2019s glamour. It will be held in\u00a0the Waldorf\u2019s\u00a0restored Grand Ballroom and\u00a0feature red-carpet arrivals, a cocktail reception and a formal awards dinner where some of the industry\u2019s leading lights will be honored.<\/p>\n
