CHICAGO (WLS) — A man was shot during a struggle with an armed robber on the city’s West Side on Saturday night, Chicago police said.<\/p>\n

Police said the shooting happened in the East Garfield Park neighborhood’s 3100-block of West Madison Street around 10:50 p.m.<\/p>\n

A 44-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when a gunman approached him and demanded his belongings, police said.<\/p>\n

Police said a struggle ensued, and the gun went off, striking the victim in the ankle.<\/p>\n

The victim took himself to Stroger Hospital, where he is in good condition.<\/p>\n

The gunman fled the scene.<\/p>\n

There is no one in custody, and Area Four detectives are investigating.<\/p>\n

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.<\/p>\n
