The son of \u201cWalking Dead\u201d star Norman Reedus was arrested and charged following an alleged assault in a New York City apartment on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Mingus Reedus, 25, pleaded not guilty to five charges on Saturday, according to court records. The model is facing charges of third-degree assault, assault recklessly causing injury, criminal obstruction of breathing, second-degree harassment and aggravated harassment.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to an assault in progress in Manhattan\u2019s Chelsea neighborhood at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, the New York Police Department said. A 33-year-old woman was observed with \u201cminor injuries\u201d to her neck and leg.<\/p>\n
She was transported to Bellevue Hospital and Mingus Reedus was taken into custody, police said.<\/p>\n
In a statement to NBC News on Sunday, Mingus Reedus\u2019 attorney, Priya Chaudhry insisted that her client\u2019s innocence would become clear as the facts of the case emerged.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite what the prosecutor said in court \u2014 which is not evidence \u2014 they chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less,\u201d Chaudhry said. \u201cThis speaks volumes, and much louder than the prosecutor\u2019s unsupported in-court comments.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also noted that the judge released Mingus Reedus on his own recognizance, \u201cwith neither bail nor supervision.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mingus Reedus is the son of Norman Reedus and model Helena Christensen. He accepted a plea deal in 2022 after being accused of assaulting a woman at the San Gennaro festival in New York City\u2019s Little Italy, according to E! News<\/a>.<\/p>\n
