Liverpool\u2019s left-back position has been a key talking point all summer and it looks set to continue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Reds are in the midst of a summer of change but it appears to be for the better, with Arne Slot looking to build a super team to last.<\/p>\n

Out with the old and in with the new is the famous saying and although many fans will be upset to see some of their favourites depart, it will only put the club in good stead going forward.<\/p>\n

Andy Robertson is one of the players who could leave<\/a> after several years of service, with the flying Scotsman wanted by Atletico Madrid.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old had somewhat of a down season by his standards and with Milos Kerkez arriving<\/a>, he looked set to leave, that was until Fabrizio Romano\u2019s<\/a> latest update that is.<\/p>\n

With Kerkez<\/a> signing for Liverpool<\/a>, one of Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas will likely depart<\/a>, with the latter always being the one more likely.<\/p>\n

However, after Atletico registered their interest, it was the Scotsman who everyone thought might leave, but Romano has confirmed that the Spanish giants are close to agreeing a deal with another left-back now instead.<\/p>\n

The journalist revealed that Diego Simeone\u2019s side are closing in on signing Atalanta\u2019s Matteo Ruggeri, a conventional left-wing back by trade.<\/p>\n

This suggests that their pursuit of Robertson is now over, with the 31-year-old very likely to stick around at Anfield<\/a> until the end of his contract that expires next summer.<\/p>\n

Tsimikas revealed that he is happy being the back-up option<\/a> at Liverpool, but now he will likely go, with Juventus, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United all interested in him.<\/p>\n

Either way, Liverpool\u2019s left-back drama is not sorted just yet and there could still be a big change between now and the new season.<\/p>\n

Andy Robertson is the perfect mentor to Milos Kerkez<\/p>\n

In an ideal world, Robertson would always have been the one to remain this summer as not only is he still a solid player, but Kerkez can also learn a thing or two from him.<\/p>\n

Signing back in 2017, the Scotsman\u2019s eight years of experience will provide the Hungarian with everything he needs to know in order to be successful, meaning the transition between left-back should be seamless.<\/p>\n

Kerkez is also said to be very eager to learn<\/a>, making him an excellent understudy and suggesting he will be a real hit.<\/p>\n

At just 21, the Hungarian is only going to get better and better, and by having one of the Reds\u2019 best-ever left-backs by his side every step of the way, his move suggests it is only going to go in one direction. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
