He was 96.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe passed peacefully in his sleep in New York City and is survived by his four daughters \u2014 Alisa, Amy, Laura and Emily,\u201d Adler\u2019s spokesperson <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/08\/24\/celebrity-news\/sopranos-star-jerry-adler-dead-at-96\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of death was not immediately known.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.70898438;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36915582\" width=\"418\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-147604102.jpg\" alt=\"Jerry Adler attends &quot;The Sopranos&quot; Final Season World Premiere Red Carpet at Radio City Music Hall in NYC on March 27, 2007.\" class=\"wp-image-36915582\"  \/>Sopranos star Jerry Adler died peacefully in his sleep, a spokesperson for the actor said. WireImage<\/p>\n<p>Born Feb. 4, 1929, Adler spent much of his life behind the scenes as a Broadway producer, working as a theater hand, stage manager and director, including working on the original \u201cMy Fair Lady.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After moving to California in the 1980s to be closer to his children, he took work on soap operas before suddenly finding fame in his 60s when he was cast in 1992\u2019s \u201cThe Public Eye\u201d alongside Joe Pesci.<\/p>\n<p>He was best known for playing Herman \u201cHesh\u201d Rabkin in HBO\u2019s \u201cThe Sopranos,\u201d and also had recurring roles in \u201cThe Good Wife\u201d and \u201cRescue Me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.67578125;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36915575\" width=\"399\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/sopranos-season-2-vincent-pastore-61404950.jpg\" alt=\"Vincent Pastore, James Gandolfini, Tony Sirico, Michael Imperioli, Jerry Adler during season two of &quot;The Sopranos.&quot;\" class=\"wp-image-36915575\"  \/>Adler (r), with the Sopranos cast. HBO<\/p>\n<p>Steven Van Zandt, Adler\u2019s Sopranos co-star, was among those who paid tribute to the late star.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch an honor working with you.
