Sure, Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain is focused on the upcoming NASCAR Cup playoffs. He\u2019s tied for 11th\u00a0 with defending Cup champ Joey Logano as the 16 playoff drivers prepare for Sunday\u2019s postseason opener at Darlington.<\/p>\n
But something else is on Chastain\u2019s mind. While it won\u2019t necessarily distract him from his Cup championship aspirations over the next few months, the Florida watermelon farmer is eager to see how many races NASCAR will allow Cup drivers to compete in next year in both the Xfinity (soon to be O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Series) and Craftsman Truck Series.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to,\u201d Chastain said during media availability at Daytona International Speedway<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t know if it\u2019ll be able to happen, but I just love to race. My team is already working on the possibilities and putting together what races are companion and what races we have sponsorship for. We still have to fund it; either I have to fund it, which is how it\u2019s been most of the time, or the team has to. We\u2019re already working on hypotheticals for Truck and Xfinity.\u201d<\/p>\n Chastain\u2019s mindset, if and when NASCAR announces how many races Cup drivers can compete in the two adjunct series, is pretty straightforward.<\/p>\n \u201cI want to win and any chance I get to win anything, I want to do it,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s on the same track, which I get a lot out of.\u00a0 The Truck Series is honestly as productive, probably more on throttle time\u2014like gas and brake is more similar in a Truck right now than a Cup car now.\u201d<\/p>\n Chastain Has 579 Career Starts Across All Three NASCAR Series<\/p>\n Chastain has made 249 starts in the Cup Series (six wins\u2014including this year in the Coca-Cola 600), as well as 213 Xfinity starts (two wins) and 117 starts in the Truck Series (five wins).<\/p>\n
