GREENE COUNTY \u2014 A woman spotted a black bear while driving through Greene County. <\/p>\n

News Center 7\u2019s Malik Patterson<\/b> speaks to the woman who saw the bear and a wildlife officer LIVE on News Center 7 at 11<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The bear was first seen in Clinton County two weeks ago, but it was spotted in Greene County near US 68 yesterday. <\/p>\n

Lauren Robinette was on her way home from work around 8 p.m. Thursday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI saw it a few yards away. I mean, maybe half a mile. It looked like a big dog at first,\u201d Robinette said. <\/p>\n

Robinette says she kept driving. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe closer I got, the bigger it got, and it wasn\u2019t moving,\u201d Robinette said. \u201cIt was still just kind of standing there, staring at me. That\u2019s when I realized what it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Robinette slowed down to a crawl and took out her phone and took pictures of the bear. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt seemed like it was lost and didn\u2019t know what it was doing,\u201d Robinette said. <\/p>\n

Alex Almeter is a Greene County Wildlife Officer. Almeter says this is a 2-year-old male black bear that is travelling alone. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they\u2019re getting kicked out of the den from the mother, will migrate north,\u201d Almeter said. <\/p>\n

Almeter says if you see the bear, do not approach it. He suggests taking a picture and reporting the sighting to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t had any reports of it being aggressive. I haven\u2019t heard any property damage or anything,\u201d Almeter said. <\/p>\n

He also says to make sure there\u2019s no food lying around. <\/p>\n

Robinette says she\u2019s glad she took the photos when she did.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see the bear, I thought, was something I\u2019ll never see again,\u201d Robinette said. <\/p>\n

ODNR will continue to monitor the bear, but will not interfere with the bear\u2019s natural summer movements.<\/p>\n
