Fake cops shot, killed by homeowners after they try to break in, Texas cops say<\/p>\n
Two men impersonating police officers were shot and killed while exchanging gunfire with homeowners, Texas police say.<\/p>\n
The fake cops<\/a> showed up to the door of a home on Houston\u2019s southeast side at about 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, the police department told KTRK.<\/p>\n They were in body armor and had badges around their necks, but were wearing ski masks to cover their faces \u2014 and they said they were serving a warrant, police told the station.<\/p>\n The homeowners could see the men through a doorbell camera<\/a>, police said, and didn\u2019t trust them, KPRC reported.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s just two people, and they\u2019re masked up, and no police cars, no lights or anything like that. So, they immediately became suspicious,\u201d police told the outlet.<\/p>\n The homeowners wouldn\u2019t let them in, police say, and the men started shooting through the door<\/a>, KHOU reported.
