{"id":174234,"date":"2025-08-25T11:48:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T11:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/174234\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T11:48:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T11:48:09","slug":"obituary-of-john-blair-chesnutt-eagles-funeral-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/174234\/","title":{"rendered":"Obituary of John Blair Chesnutt | Eagles Funeral Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With broken hearts we announce the passing of John (Johnny) Blair Chesnutt\u00a0of Rocklin in the early hours of Thursday August 22 in their\u00a0home at the age of 71.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was born in New Glasgow but his earliest\u00a0memory was\u00a0of coming from Mountville to Union Centre by tractor and wagon at the age of three. He grew up on a farm with a large number of siblings. He left home at the age of 15 and moved to Westville to live\u00a0on Irving\u00a0Street\u00a0with\u00a0a surrogate\u00a0Mom,\u00a0Marg\u00a0MacIntoshand grew up with her boys.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He attended NSCC for one year of carpentry, worked at scaffolding in Newfoundland, and then started his life long career with\u00a0heavy equipment operator and\u00a0truck driving.\u00a0There wasn\u2019t a piece of\u00a0machinery &#8211;\u00a0dozers to excavators &#8211; that he could not operate.\u00a0He had his own truck and business for several years and worked for various companies following that. He loved his job, but always wanted to be home at night in his own chair with his television and family. He was well known as an expert\u00a0at his job and excelled in all he did. He was situation smart, studied the problem and knew just how to handle it. As he laughingly told everyone \u201cI am the best\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He lived a full life, often with difficulties cause by his own life style, but he never complained, accepted and dealt with the consequences of having a good time. Working until he was 70 was his goal\u00a0and\u00a0he was three months short when a detached retina interrupted his plans and various health problems arose.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Johnny was the son of the late\u00a0Llyod\u00a0and Isabel Chesnutt (Cameron). He married the love of his life Mary (Gordon) in 1984 and for 41 years they built a busy life adding two more children to their combined family. He is survived by his wife Mary; children Angela (Kenny,\u00a0Olivia), Tracy\u00a0(Stephanie), Jody (Meredith), Melanie (Mia), Mary Ellen (Mike, Simon, Lucas, Hannah, Willow), and Megan ( Tristan, Blake,\u00a0Kaitlin, Jodi), siblings Jean, Bobby (Janie), Mike (Esther), Nancy (Al), Kelly\u00a0(Beth), Ruthie, Trish, and Tony, brother in laws Jim and Ron Gordon, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.\u00a0He was predeceased by his parents, in laws David and\u00a0Treva\u00a0Gordon,\u00a0siblings Jim, George,\u00a0Cathy and Joanie.<\/p>\n<p>The family would like to thank\u00a0his NP Jessica Sharpe and\u00a0the VON for their excellent\u00a0support;\u00a0in particular-\u00a0Kathy, Lori-Anne,\u00a0Lyndsey\u00a0and\u00a0Melissa.\u00a0A very special\u00a0thank you to his friends Kevin and\u00a0Tanya,\u00a0Gordon, Darren, Bob, Jeff, Frank, Bert and\u00a0Marinus\u00a0whose frequent calls \/ visits kept him informed of what was going on in the county plus the added bonus of recounting stories from the past.<\/p>\n<p>He is resting at Eagles Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday August 27 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm.\u00a0The\u00a0funeral\u00a0will be\u00a0from Eagles Chapel on Thursday August 28 at 11 am. Burial will take place in Mill Brook Cemetery with reception at Mill Brook Community Club following.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If desired, donations can be made to the Mill Brook Cemetery.
