Last July we announced that the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art<\/a><\/strong> was nearly finished, and just a few weeks later, during San Diego Comic-Con, attendees got an exclusive look at how the place was shaping up. A few days ago, those details were finally revealed to the public<\/strong> through the museum\u2019s official social channels.<\/p>\n

Beyond its striking futuristic design, the Lucas Museum is being built with the surrounding landscape in mind.<\/strong> The flowing shape of the building allows for gardens<\/a> to spread across its rooftop and around its base, blending the museum seamlessly into the park. <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Covering about 11 acres,<\/strong> the grounds are filled with lush greenery and carefully designed outdoor spaces<\/a> meant to welcome the community year-round. The park surrounding the museum offers a mix of experiences for visitors. Nearly 700 new trees<\/strong> have been planted, creating shaded picnic areas,<\/a> open meadows perfect for relaxing in the sun, and even an amphitheater designed for community events. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Once the museum is finished, visitors will find galleries, theaters, classrooms, and dining areas<\/strong> inside, designed to highlight the role of visual storytelling in shaping culture. The museum will also display pieces from George Lucas\u2019s own art collection, along with legendary props, costumes, and storyboards from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and other classics.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Altogether, the project is one of the most ambitious cultural investments L.A. has ever seen, with a price tag of about $1 billion and another $400 million set aside to ensure its long-term future,<\/strong> as Vanity Fair<\/a> reports. The building itself will span nearly 300,000 square feet and is set to become not only a new landmark in Exposition Park but also one of the most significant museums in the world.<\/p>\n
