{"id":174770,"date":"2025-08-25T16:34:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T16:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/174770\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T16:34:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T16:34:13","slug":"court-reschedules-shane-james-hearing-to-sept-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/174770\/","title":{"rendered":"Court reschedules Shane James&#8217; hearing to Sept. 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AUSTIN, Texas  \u2014 A court hearing for Shane James, the man accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-say-shooting-spree-suspect-murdered-parents-in-san-antonio-before-austin-killings\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-say-shooting-spree-suspect-murdered-parents-in-san-antonio-before-austin-killings\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">killing six people in Austin and San Antonio in 2023<\/a>, was rescheduled to next month.<\/p>\n<p>The 9:15 a.m. hearing in the 147th District Court was rescheduled to Sept. 16, where there will be an update on defense expert testimony.<\/p>\n<p>During the brief proceeding, prosecutors requested fingerprint testing and the use of DNA samples collected in a rape kit. Defense attorneys did not object to the request.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-at-mopac-and-la-crosse-in-sw-austin\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-at-mopac-and-la-crosse-in-sw-austin\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PREVIOUS COVERAGE | Apparent multi-city shooting spree leaves 2 officers injured, 6 dead: Suspect now in custody<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>James is charged with capital murder, attempted capital murder and aggravated assault in connection with the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-at-mopac-and-la-crosse-in-sw-austin\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/police-investigating-officer-involved-shooting-at-mopac-and-la-crosse-in-sw-austin\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">December 2023 shooting spree<\/a>. He is accused of killing his parents in San Antonio before driving to Austin, where authorities say he killed four more people and wounded three others, including two police officers.<\/p>\n<p>James was taken into custody Dec. 5, 2023.
