William Spatz’s new play centers on the political clash behind the birth of the Jewish state.<\/p>\n

William Spatz’s\u00a0Truman vs. Israel:\u00a0Abzug and the Undressing of Truman will make its world premiere Off-Broadway at Theater at St. Clement’s beginning October 9, officially opening October 16. The limited run will continue through January 4, 2026.<\/p>\n

Willy Falk<\/a> will return to the New York stage playing President Harry S. Truman, opposite Sasha Eden as Bella Abzug, Matt Caplan<\/a>, and Mark Lotito<\/a>. Randy White is directing.<\/p>\n

The work centers on the little-known political clash behind the creation of the Jewish state during the Truman administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cTruman is just a compelling character,”\u00a0says White in a statement. “A man at the center of so many consequential decisions, and getting it from all sides. But claiming to have no regrets. So when a young Bella Abzug shows up\u2013eager to make her mark as a young lawyer\u2013the interrogation begins. Truman vs. Israel is like a fabulous (in all senses) and riveting first draft of history.”<\/p>\n

Falk created the role of Chris in the original Broadway production of\u00a0Miss Saigon, also appearing in\u00a0Les Mis\u00e9rables and\u00a0Marilyn. On screen, he recently appeared in\u00a0And Just Like That….<\/p>\n
