This man<\/a> encountered a customer who tried to buy more painkillers than allowed.<\/p>\n

He reminded her that she could only buy 2 packs of painkillers, so she tried to negotiate.<\/p>\n

When his duty manager emphasized their policy, she decided to create a\u00a0dramatic exit.<\/p>\n

This happened yesterday, so the event is still fresh in my mind.<\/p>\n

The store I work at has a policy where a customer can only purchase 2 packs of painkillers.<\/p>\n

This could either be ibuprofen, paracetamol, or aspirin.<\/p>\n

They can\u2019t get someone else to buy for them if they already have 2 in their shopping.<\/p>\n

Or put 2 on another transaction.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This man told the customer she couldn\u2019t buy 4 packs of painkillers.<\/p>\n

So, I was at the till serving one particular customer (let\u2019s call her Karen).<\/p>\n

I noticed she had 2 packs of paracetamol and 2 packs of ibuprofen.<\/p>\n

I had already scanned a few items before I got to them.<\/p>\n

Me: I\u2019m sorry, but I\u2019m only allowed to sell you two of these, I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n

Karen: I\u2019ll just put the other two on a separate transaction.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He told her she couldn\u2019t let her daughter buy the other brand either.<\/p>\n

Me: I can\u2019t let you do that, I\u2019m afraid.<\/p>\n

Karen: Well, then let my daughter buy the other two.<\/p>\n

Me: I\u2019m not allowed to do that either, I\u2019m afraid. It\u2019s against store policy.<\/p>\n

Karen: (Eyes widened in rage) I would like to speak to your manager.<\/p>\n

Me: (Who has had enough of Karen\u2019s crap) I\u2019ll call management.<\/p>\n

But they will tell you what I told you.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He called his duty manager.<\/p>\n

My manager wasn\u2019t on shift that day, but my duty manager (DM) was, so I called them instead.<\/p>\n

DM: Is everything okay?<\/p>\n

I indicated that Karen was irate.<\/p>\n

I see a queue forming at my till, so I call another 2 tills to open to bring the queues down.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The duty manager told her the same thing.<\/p>\n

Karen: She\u2019s looks at me, telling me my daughter can\u2019t buy these (Points to the painkillers).<\/p>\n

Me: (To my DM) They were in her shopping.<\/p>\n

DM: (To Karen) Because you have been told you can\u2019t purchase them, there\u2019s nothing I can do.<\/p>\n

Karen: (Eyes widened even more.)<\/p>\n

She turns her bag upside down and the stuff I\u2019ve already scanned through falls out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Karen walked away and didn\u2019t complete her transaction.<\/p>\n

Karen: I don\u2019t want these anymore.<\/p>\n

Karen and her daughter then storm off, wasting her own time in the process.<\/p>\n

The gentleman behind her had a little chuckle with me after she left.<\/p>\n

I had to have my DM cancel the transaction.<\/p>\n

And the items she didn\u2019t want had to be put back.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
