Gofundme<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe got a little scared when we found out,\u201d Molly, a fellow first responder, told The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn\u2019t know the extent of his injuries. We were at dinner the other day and he called saying, \u2018Hey, I\u2019ve been in an incident, I\u2019m OK, just if you can notify my parents because they weren\u2019t answering the phone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Rudat is a part-time model from Upstate New York. Instagram\/@john.rudat<\/p>\n<p>Rudat was staying in Dresden with his former foreign exchange host family when he fell foul of a well-known local thug and drug dealer, according to videos he later posted on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures from the aftermath of the violent altercation show blood splattered over the floor of the tram, along with tissues used by other passengers to treat Rudat\u2019s wounds.<\/p>\n<p>One of Rudat\u2019s suspected attackers, a 21-year-old Syrian national, was arrested on suspicion of beating up Rudat before his accomplice came back and stabbed the EMT.<\/p>\n<p>A picture of blood and debris after a good Samaritan confronted a Syrian national on a tram in Germany. xcitepress\/florian varga<\/p>\n<p>He was later released by prosecutors in Germany because there was no evidence he carried out the stabbing, German outlet Bild reported on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the on-call public prosecutor\u2019s assessment, there were insufficient grounds for detention. The knife attack cannot be attributed to him,\u201d Senior Public Prosecutor Jurgen Schmidt told Bild.<\/p>\n<p>Rudat\u2019s\u00a0brother, Logan, told The Post he wasn\u2019t surprised at his sibling\u2019s bravery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have been surprised if he hadn\u2019t stepped in,\u201d Logan, 22, who is also a first responder, said from the family\u2019s home outside of Albany, NY.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s part of his character. That\u2019s just the way we were raised,\u201d Logan said, adding that he\u00a0hopes his brother will be able to return to the States in the next week or so.<\/p>\n<p>German police are seen at the scene of the gruesome attack on Aug. 24, 2025. xcitepress\/florian varga<\/p>\n<p>His face bloody and covered in bandages, Rudat took to Instagram on Sunday night to slam his attackers and condemn what he called Europe\u2019s \u201cimmigration problem\u201d in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ainyschu\/reel\/DNvLeWG2G_J\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf y\u2019all didn\u2019t think Europe had an immigration problem, especially Germany, let me drop some knowledge on you,\u201d he said, his voice muffled by the heavy bandaging to his nose and above his mouth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is 11:57 a.m. right now. In three minutes, that man that assaulted that young woman will be released from custody. He\u2019ll be released from custody because he\u2019s not a citizen of Germany, he\u2019s not a citizen of the EU for that matter,\u201d Rudat said.<\/p>\n<p>John Rudat was injured after being attacked while helping two women on a tram in Germany. It\u2019s not the first time that man has beaten up women, and it\u2019s not the first time that the other guy decided to take a swing at my face with a six-inch blade,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they could do this to the people of Germany and then just get released 12 hours later \u2014 even less at this point \u2014 where is the law? Where is the structure?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Germans are held to that law and that structure, but these people could just come in, swing knives and hurt, abuse, terrorize and oppress citizens of Germany, then what do we do?\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>The US Embassy in Germany has put out a statement calling on German authorities to bring Rudat\u2019s attacker to justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge German authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice and punish them to the fullest extent permitted by law.
