PHOENIX \u2014 A stabbing in west Phoenix last week led to the death of a 27-year-old man, authorities said on Monday.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement responded to news of a stabbing in the area of 27th and Northern avenues<\/a> around 3 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.<\/p>\n

Details on the call to Phoenix police said the assault victim, Martin McKinney, left the area. After searching, they found McKinney nearby with at least one stab wound.<\/p>\n

Law enforcement brought him to a nearby hospital. Initially, his injuries were considered to be nonlethal, but his condition worsened while he was receiving treatment, police said.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.<\/p>\n

Detectives with the Phoenix Police Department\u2019s Violent Crimes Bureau took over the investigation.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information that can help them find out what happened to McKinney is urged to call Silent Witness<\/a> at 480-WITNESS (948-6377) or 480-TESTIGO (837-8446) for Spanish speakers.<\/p>\n

No other details were made available as this is an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
