Tommy Fleetwood gave Rory McIlroy a telling shout-out following his PGA Tour victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After winning the FedEx Cup on Sunday, the 34-year-old explained to Sky Sports<\/a> how fellow golfer McIlroy\u2019s \u201cresilience\u201d inspired his own success.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am nowhere near Rory\u2019s career, but I think him winning the Masters<\/a> this year was a great show of resilience and mental strength,\u201d Fleetwood explained. \u201cI drew on that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pro golfer\u2019s comment came amid headlines about his wife, Clare Fleetwood, being noticeably absent from this weekend\u2019s tournament<\/a> at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, McIlroy\u2019s success at the Masters was similarly overshadowed by his and wife Erica Stoll<\/a>\u2018s marriage drama<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The athlete, 36, filed to divorce Stoll<\/a>, 37, in May 2024 after seven years of marriage.<\/p>\n

McIlroy was briefly linked to sports reporter Amanda Balionis<\/a> during his time apart from Stoll, with whom he shares daughter Poppy.<\/p>\n

McIlroy and Stoll called off their divorce<\/a> in June 2024 but later reconciled.<\/p>\n

The duo put on a united front at the Masters in April, sharing a kiss<\/a> on the green. However, a body language expert claimed Stoll seemed \u201csubdued\u201d at the event<\/a> \u2014 unlike her \u201coverwhelmed, clingy\u201d partner.<\/p>\n

At the time, McIlroy caught heat for neglecting to mention Stoll in his victory speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he did a sit-down interview with Balionis<\/a>, which social media users labeled \u201cawkward\u201d and \u201cwrong\u201d via Instagram.<\/p>\n

As for Tommy, the Olympian emotionally celebrated his win with one of his stepsons<\/a>, Oscar Craig, over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Clare and her other two sons \u2014 Murray and Frankie, the latter of whom she shares with Tommy \u2014 appeared to miss the tournament.<\/p>\n

Tommy and Clare met in 2015 when she became her future husband\u2019s manager, and the duo wed in December 2017. <\/p>\n

They have a 23-year age gap, which Clare was initially \u201cparanoid\u201d about, she admitted on the \u201cPerformance People\u201d podcast<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

She eventually \u201cgave in,\u201d however, Tommy gushed to listeners at the time.<\/p>\n

Tommy has yet to comment on Clare\u2019s absence from his $10 million win on Sunday following his 164th start on the tour.<\/p>\n

The athlete, who has played on tour since 2014, told Sky Sports he had to \u201cstay in the moment and stay present\u201d to secure his win.<\/p>\n
