{"id":176945,"date":"2025-08-26T12:00:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T12:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/176945\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T12:00:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T12:00:12","slug":"400-inflation-refund-checks-being-mailed-to-new-yorkers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/176945\/","title":{"rendered":"$400 inflation refund checks being mailed to New Yorkers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York state will mail out inflation refund checks of up to $400 to more than 8 million New Yorkers beginning in October, including 1.25 million Long Islanders. <\/p>\n<p>The State&#8217;s Department of Taxation and Finance&#8217;s website says the one-time payments are designed to &#8220;provide relief to New Yorkers who have paid increased sales taxes due to inflation.&#8221; The refunds were approved as part of this year&#8217;s state budget plan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s going to be upwards of $400 for families. We&#8217;re going to give it back directly,&#8221; Gov. Kathy Hochul said at an event touting the refunds back in May.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just giving you that check when it comes time to be shopping for fall school clothes and supplies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But not everyone will receive a refund. To be eligible, residents had to file state income tax returns for tax year 2023 and meet qualified income thresholds.<\/p>\n<p>Single tax filers reporting an adjusted gross income of $75,000 or less will earn a $200 refund. Married joint filers who reported $150,000 or less will receive $400.
