Perth restaurateur Alberto Nicoletti has been found guilty of raping a woman, his third sexual assault conviction after a series of trials involving multiple complainants, <\/strong>the details of which had remained secret until now.<\/p>\n

Nicoletti had met two of the women in bars before sexually assaulting them.<\/p>\n

The third woman was picked up near the Windsor Hotel in South Perth.<\/p>\n

In the District Court on Tuesday, a jury believed the woman’s account that she was asleep, after he had driven her home in 2020, and woke up to find him having sex with her without her consent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nicoletti had maintained it was a “fully consensual sexual escapade”.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old restaurateur had initially faced 10 <\/strong>sexual assault charges and one of deprivation of liberty relating to eight complainants, and his first trial started in February last year.<\/p>\n

The jury in that trial found him guilty of two charges but not guilty of others, and verdicts could not be reached in relation to four alleged victims.<\/p>\n

Suppression orders lifted<\/p>\n

He faced four retrials this year, resulting in verdicts of not guilty in two cases, and one charge being discontinued.<\/p>\n

Now those retrials have ended, suppression orders relating to them have been lifted allowing the details to be reported.<\/p>\n

Nicoletti and his friend Vincenzo Mineo had faced trial together in 2024.<\/p>\n

The pair had allegedly befriended a woman at a Scarborough bar in 2021 and pretended to be gay, before luring her to a disabled toilet to use cocaine and sexually assaulting her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On this charge, the jury couldn’t reach a verdict in relation to Nicoletti, but found Mr Mineo not guilty.<\/p>\n

The charge against Nicoletti was ultimately discontinued.<\/p>\n

Nicoletti already in custody<\/p>\n

By the time of this year’s retrials, Nicoletti had been sentenced for digital penetration of a woman in Como in 2016 after meeting her at a bar, and digital penetration of a woman he was dancing with at a Northbridge wine bar in 2020.<\/p>\n

He was given a total effective sentence of five years and six months for the two crimes, backdated to when he was taken into custody in 2021.<\/p>\n

He will face a sentencing hearing for his latest conviction on October 2.<\/p>\n

Mr Mineo had faced two charges in 2024, including sexual penetration of the woman in the disabled toilet in Scarborough, and penetration of another woman at his apartment.<\/p>\n

The jury found Mr Mineo not guilty of the first charge, and couldn’t reach a verdict on the second.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, in July this year, Mr Mineo was found not guilty by a jury after a retrial on the apartment allegation.<\/p>\n
