The film follows the couple as they attempt to reconcile with the loss of their child, and how William Shakespeare began to write his beloved classic, \u201cHamlet.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/paul-mescal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paul-mescal\" data-tag=\"paul-mescal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Mescal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/jessie-buckley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jessie-buckley\" data-tag=\"jessie-buckley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jessie Buckley<\/a> star as William and Agnes Shakespeare, respectively, with Joe Alwyn set as Bartholomew. Jacobi Jupe stars as Hamnet alongside a supporting cast that includes Emily Watson, Jack Shalloo and David Wilmot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tZhao wrote the screenplay with O\u2019Farrell. Zhao, Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes, Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Laurie Borg all serve as producers for the film. \u201cHamnet\u201d is produced by Amblin Entertainment, Hera Pictures, Neal Street Productions, and Book of Shadows. The film will be distributed by Focus Features domestically, with Universal Pictures internationally. \u201cHamnet\u201d will have a limited release in theaters on Nov. 27, before expanding to theaters nationwide on Dec. 12.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cHamnet\u201d marks Zhao\u2019s first movie after Marvel\u2019s \u201cEternals.\u201d Zhao was the second woman ever to win best director at the Oscars thanks to her acclaimed feature \u201cNomadland.\u201d The film also won best picture and best actress for Frances McDormand.
