Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug<\/a> was booked into the Dallas County jail early Friday morning, records show.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old artist, born Xavier Landum, is facing charges of possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a firearm. <\/p>\n

On Thursday night, Dallas police pulled over a vehicle they observed driving without a front license plate near the outskirts of Pleasant Grove, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News.<\/p>\n

Officers asked the driver, whom they later identified as Landum, if he had any guns in the car. He told them there was one under an armrest. <\/p>\n

When the officers ran a background check on Landum, they found his name in an Arlington Police Department gang database. They then <\/b>asked Landum to get out of the car. <\/p>\n

Police searched the car and found <\/b>a rolling paper with a substance believed to be marijuana. <\/p>\n

Landum was later <\/b>taken to the Dallas Police\u2019s headquarters and interviewed by an officer on the gang unit.<\/p>\n

Two passengers who were in the car were not taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Dallas County judge Janet Lusk set Landum\u2019s bail at $5,000. Jail records showed the rapper was released by Friday evening.<\/p>\n

His publicist did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. CBS News<\/a> was first to report the arrest.<\/p>\n

Landum was scheduled to make an appearance at a release party for his country-crossover album, I Hope You\u2019re Happy<\/a>, at a night club near Deep Ellum on Thursday night. <\/p>\n

He was also expected to hold another release party at a Wingstop<\/a> in Dallas on Friday night. That event has since been canceled.<\/p>\n

Landum first came to fame with his 2022 song \u201cTexas.\u201d His 2024 album, Take Care<\/a>, reached Billboard\u2019s Top 10 and recently went platinum. <\/p>\n

His newest album, I Hope You\u2019re Happy, dropped Friday and features prominent country singers including Jelly Roll, Luke Combs and Shaboozey. <\/p>\n

This is the second time Landum has been arrested in North Texas this year. In February<\/a>, he was booked into Arlington City Jail on a similar marijuana charge.<\/p>\n

The rapper also served time in an Austin jail around 2018 and 2019 related to a felony burglary charge, according to Travis County records. He began writing poetry and rhymes while in solitary confinement, Rolling Stone<\/a> reported last year.<\/p>\n
