I think that comes down to a creative part of you, or the energy or spirit you have that you\u2019re either built for a very long time with one person or not,\u201d Gehlfuss told Variety at the time of his exit. \u201cI am attracted to the profession for the variety in it, and eight years is a long time. It\u2019s two college degrees! I\u2019m joking now that I basically have a doctorate in television.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile DeVitto left the show two seasons earlier, he was thrilled that their characters were able to reunite on screen. \u201cWe fell right back into our work rhythm as if we didn\u2019t have any time off. It was a beautiful moment, and one that I hope brings some closure to the fans,\u201d he shared. \u201cBecause this relationship has come full circle for Will and Natalie. I think Will was seeking elements of Natalie in every relationship that followed their breakup. He never really got over her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSeason 10 introduced Allen Macdonald, a new showrunner to the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/chicago-med\/\" id=\"auto-tag_chicago-med\" data-tag=\"chicago-med\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Med<\/a>\u201d world; at the top of the season, he <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2024\/tv\/news\/chicago-med-season-10-humor-crockett-return-new-showrunner-1236154575\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">teased cameos by returning favorites<\/a>: \u201cOne thing I love about the One Chicago world is just because someone has exited the show, they\u2019re still part of the world.
