{"id":178741,"date":"2025-08-27T03:48:15","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T03:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/178741\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T03:48:15","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T03:48:15","slug":"this-is-a-historic-milestone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/178741\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;This is a historic milestone&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">India&#8217;s transition to renewable energy sources \u2014 solar, wind, and hydro \u2014 is making a huge environmental difference while saving the country billions of dollars.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The country just met its goal of getting 50% of its installed electricity capacity from renewable sources \u2014 five years earlier than the 2030 deadline set under the Paris Agreement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/industry\/renewables\/renewables-helped-india-save-rs-4-lakh-cr-in-fossil-fuel-pollution-related-costs-in-2024-pralhad-joshi\/amp_articleshow\/122887220.cms\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Economic Times;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Economic Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">India is one of the world&#8217;s most polluted countries, with an average air quality index of 138 and a particulate matter concentration of &#8220;10.1 times the World Health Organization annual PM2.5 guideline value,&#8221; per IQAir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A safe AQI is below 50, and prolonged exposure to high AQIs can cause a variety of health problems, including respiratory irritation, heart issues, lung disease, and cancer. Air pollution is estimated to cause seven million premature deaths each year, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/health-topics\/air-pollution#tab=tab_1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:World Health Organization;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">World Health Organization<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Many human activities contribute to air pollution, but the primary source is the burning of dirty fuels. We rely heavily on fossil fuels \u2014 they&#8217;re used in transportation, heating, generating electricity, industrial production, and more. Our constant burning results in an enormous amount of planet-warming pollution that has a detrimental heating effect on the planet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Not only are fossil fuels harmful, but they&#8217;re also finite. Based on <a href=\"https:\/\/mahb.stanford.edu\/library-item\/fossil-fuels-run\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:current consumption rates;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">current consumption rates<\/a>, we may only have oil, coal, and gas for the next 30-70 years.
