THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. FIRST AT 4:00. A BRIGHT, FIERY OBJECT SHOOTING DOWN FROM THE SKY. YEAH. IT’S NOT A VIEW YOU GET TO SEE EVERY DAY. IT’S GOT EVERYONE ASKING QUESTIONS. OUR CAITLIN ASHBAUGH JOINS US LIVE IN GREENVILLE WITH WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR. CAITLIN. DESCRIBE TO US WHAT THIS PHENOMENON LOOKED LIKE. NIGEL. RASHAD, IF YOU BLINKED, YOU MIGHT HAVE JUST MISSED IT. IMAGINE A BRIGHT STREAK OF LIGHT COMING DOWN FROM THE SKY. SECONDS LATER, DISAPPEARING INTO THIN AIR. ALL OF THAT IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. EYEWITNESSES SAID THAT THEY DESCRIBED IT AS SOFTBALL SIZED, AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A STRIKING, UNUSUAL SIGHT FOR THEM. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE, THEY TRACKED THIS THROUGH THEIR SATELLITE IMAGERY, AND THEY SAID THAT THIS SHOWED A STREAK WITHIN A CLOUD FREE SKY THAT WAS CLOSER TO THE NORTH CAROLINA AND VIRGINIA BORDER. THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS AROUND LUNCHTIME TODAY. THE NATIONAL OCEANIC ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION IS REPORTING THIS AS A SUSPECTED METEOR. ONE GREENVILLE NATIVE SAID HE SAW THE ANOMALY WHILE HE WAS EATING HIS LUNCH. HE NEVER EXPECTED TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS IN HIS HOMETOWN. I HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT THE WINDOW OF MY OFFICE OVER HERE AND SAW A GREAT BIG FIREBALL COME DOWN JUST OVER THESE TREES RIGHT HERE. AND I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND HAPPENED TO CATCH IT ON CAMERA, AND THEN TO MAKE SURE I SAW WHAT I SAW AND. WELL, THE AMERICAN METEOR SOCIETY, THEY’RE SIGHTING JUST OVER 100 REPORTS OF THE ANOMALY ONLINE, STRETCHING FROM PARTS OF ARIZONA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, NORTH CAROLINA, TENNESSEE, AND OF COURSE, HERE IN SOUTH CAROLINA, WE ARE TOLD THAT THIS IS DEVELOPING, OF COURSE, AND WE’RE LOOKING FOR THOSE UPDATES AS THEY COME TO US. WE’LL KEEP YOU UPDATED ON WHAT WE FIND OUT FOR

Latest video shows fiery ball fall from sky in South Carolina

   Updated: 5:58 PM EDT Jun 26, 2025

  Editorial Standards ⓘ

For the latest information, click here. Here you will find the latest video of the possible meteorite that was seen falling from the sky in parts of South Carolina Thursday afternoon.
